Sunshine Coast indie-pop artist Sahara Beck is a genre chameleon whose star is well and truly on the rise. Now managed by Secret Sounds, aka the folks behind Splendour in the Grass, Beck is poised to break into the mainstream consciousness after building up 8 singles and 2 EP releases since 2019; all of them demonstrating a radical departure from her earlier works and first full album, 2016’s Panacea. Now inspired by iconoclasts like David Byrne and St. Vincent, Beck has transformed from a teenage song writing prodigy to a performance-oriented pop auteur in her first decade as a recording artist. Beck is a crowd pleaser, and sometimes the performative aspect of a talent is lost in translation on studio recordings – this episode features a live performance from Sahara Beck, recorded at the Yonder Festival Speigeltent on the 27th of November, 2021.
