Live at Yonder Festival, Mary Valley, 30 November 2019
Captain Dreamboat began as an idea, a nickname, and a tattoo. Singer Ofa Fanaika – whose other project C H U R C H was featured in episode 349 of Live Delay – played in reggae/dub band Chocolate Strings throughout the 2000s and always had a dream of forming a soul and R’n’B band out of jazz musicians. At some point she was given the nickname “Captain Dreamboat” and she tattooed the name on her arm as a commitment to one day get that other band together. A year later, in 2012, the dream came to life.
Since then Captain Dreamboat has been a staple of West End’s music community, and have played festivals including Jungle Love, Island Vibe and the Woodford Folk Festival. In 2014 they released the EP “Fallin’ For You”, which has been followed with a string of occasional singles since then.
