Ep 386 – Bad Sext and Grieg

Bad Sext:

Live at The Zoo, Fortitude Valley, 17 July 2020

Bad Sext started off when Brisbane songwriters Ella Austin and Meg Macdonald got together to write funny songs with a feminist edge. They soon put a full band together, now comprised of Mitchel Howard on guitar, Emma Walnut on bass and Sam Hodgkinson on drums. Their debut EP, “Muff Hussy” was released in 2019 and their incredible live show has been playing around town ever since.

Grieg:

Live at Sonic Masala Fest, Greenslopes Bowls Club, Greenslopes, 7 March 2020

Previously featured in episode 181 of Live Delay, Grieg are a self-described “noise metal” band from Brisbane. Originally formed by guitarist John Mercer (from Undead Apes and Dick Nasty) and drummer Alex Gillies (from A Savage God and No Anchor), bassist Tamara Dawn (from Gazoonga Attack and HITS) soon joined. Vocalist Lance Sinclair rounded out the band and they released their first album, “Retaliate First” in 2015. Gillies left the band and was replaced by Adam Cuthbert, and they have since released a second album, 2020’s “Detritus”.
