Harmony are a remarkable band that are equal parts beautiful and brutal. They encapsulate the whole range of human emotion, with blistering intensity of screeching guitars and roars with harmonies that soothe and romance you. They formed in 2009 and would release 3 albums and various singles including last year’s record ‘Double Negative’.
The band features a stripped back collection of guitar, bass, drums and a vocal duality of Tom Lyngcoln’s intense vocals supported by 3 vocalists providing amazing harmonies. The songs are intense and full of emotion, balancing the beauty of the harmonies with the rawness of the musicality and Tom’s vocals. The six members are from all over the Melbourne scene featuring along with Lyngcoln, Alex Kastaniotis on drums, Jonathan Chapple on bass and the trio of Amanda Roff, Quinn Delany and Erica Dunn providing the angelic tones.
This set demonstrates the beauty of what Harmony do, it was pure emotion with the ferocity of the music and howling with the soaring harmonies elevating to a near spiritual level. I can’t say enough about this band and this set so here it is, recorded live at Sonic Masala Festival on the 18th of August, 2018.
