Appearing on more international underground music labels than you can poke a stick at, Mad Nanna are quietly one of Australia’s most acclaimed rock bands. They’ve toured both the US and Europe in the last year but you won’t find them at any of the colossal summer music festivals and you won’t read about them in any music street press either. Here I am hammering on about these mainstays of the Australian Music industry when these sorts of things are completely irrelevant to a group like these guys. I could say, “they’re from another world” but that’s just silly. Mad Nanna are from Earth, they play Earth music. They just don’t have songs about summer, actually I don’t know that, maybe Michael does sing about Summer. I’m not gonna pretend I know what Mad Nanna are about – that would take all the fun out of it.
So, who are Mad Nanna? Just four realists with some instruments making hypnotic rock songs for the ‘down on their luck’ romantics.

Bent

Bent are a three-piece band formed by Heidi Cutlack, who cut her teeth playing in Jonny and The Fembots and later Dag. The band also comprises of Glen Schenau (Per Purpose, Cured Pink) and Skye McNicol (Wardenburger) filling out guitar and percussion duties respectively. They’re a bit like a stripped back Dog Faced Hermans, with bouncy basslines, snarling guitar, melodic drums and tuneful shrieks of vocals. Did I just give the surprise away? I don’t think so, most of their songs actually sound different to one another. They’re not afraid to take it slow and steady when they need to.
