Episode 60: Treehouse; Thigh Master

Treehouse

Treehouse
Recorded by Luke Walsh.
Mixed by Luke Walsh.
Recorded at Greenslopes Bowls Club, FEB 22 2014.

Treehouse are a three-piece grunge ensemble that formed around three years ago in Hobart’s Eastern Shore block. These young lads follow a similar thread of raw and uncompromising rock n roll energy that was bursting from the seems of 90s Tasmania, by and large, Treehouse are not dissimilar to the fed-up enthusiasm projected by the likes of Sea Scouts, The Stickmen and The Dacios. They’ve appeared on the Rough Skies Community compilations and have recently announced a vinyl re-issue of their 2013 cassette on Melbourne label Vacant Valley.

Thigh Master

Thigh Master
Recorded by Joshua Watson & Andrew Mclellan
Mixed by Dusty Anastassiou.
Recorded at The Underdog, Feb 8 2014.

The Ford brothers operate more like music production company rather than just two guys with some songs. Under their belt they have the washed-out slacker vibes of Black Vacation, the bitingly catchy pop-punk Kids Cryptic and most recently Thigh Master – which lies somewhere between those other two. Then there’s their solo and side projects: Dan has his electronic project Evening Hiss while Matt plays drums for Per Purpose, Deadshred and Dag as well. Thigh Master is possibly the loudest and most abrasive of all these musical endeavours. Matt (the younger Ford brother) takes the reigns as principle songwriter and singer of the group.
