Live at The Triffid, Newstead, 3 October 2019
Seeker Lover Keeper is a supergroup made up of singer-songwriters Sarah Blasko, Holly Throsby and Sally Seltmann. While establishing their own well-regarded solo careers throughout the 2000s, Blasko, Throsby and Seltmann occasionally toured and collaborated together on various projects. Finally, in 2010 the three knuckled down and established themselves as a band in their own right.
In 2011 Seeker Lover Keeper released their debut, self-titled album, accompanied by three music videos featuring well-known Australian actors: “Light All My Lights” with Barry Otto, “On My Own” with John Waters and “Even Though I’m A Woman” with Aden Young. After a national tour to support the album’s launch, the members of the band each returned to their own busy solo careers.
Blasko recorded another three albums: “I Awake” (2012), “Eternal Return” (2015) and “Depth of Field” (2018). Throsby released the album “After a Time” (2017) and had two novels published, “Goodwood” (2016) and “Cedar Valley” (2018). Seltmann also became a published author with her novel “Lovesome” (2018), put out the album “Hey Daydreamer” (2014) and embarked on various other composing projects.
Finally, when their schedules allowed it, Seeker Lover Keeper came back together to record a second album, “Wild Seeds”, which was released in 2019. Like the first album, its release was accompanied by a series of music videos, with Magda Szubanski in “Let It Out”, Yael Stone in “Wild Seeds” and Madeleine Madden in “Superstar”.
This set you’re about to hear was recorded on the Brisbane leg of the “Wild Seeds” tour. In addition to Blasko, Throsby and Seltmann on vocals, guitars and keyboards, the band included James Haselwood on bass and Laurence Pike on drums.
