Back in mid-December 2012, some of New South Wales most recognisable musical talent jumped up on stage and performed their own special live versions of songs from Beck Hansen’s Song Reader.
If you’re not in the know, Beck, known for his great record Odelay, Sea Change and Midnite Vultures, amongst many others, released his latest album in a strange format – via sheet music.
Under the direction of musical director Brian Campeau, artists including Richard in Your Mind, Dappled Cities, Elana Stone, Caitlin Park and Josh Pyke got together to perform some of the songs from Beck’s Song Reader, and raised funds for a great new Sydney benefit – the Sydney Story Factor, a non-profit writing centre in Redfern dedicated to assisting marginalised youth via one-on-one tutoring.
It’s going to be a great night of live music, so get your digital radios handy for a special once off broadcast of SONG READER – The Sydney Sessions.
