Cry Club are a duo originally from Wollongong and now based in Melbourne who describe themselves as a “queer bubblegum punk band”. Vocalist Heather Riley and guitarist Jonathon Tooke began making music together in early 2018 and very quickly hit their stride with a series of striking singles including “DFTM”, “Robert Smith” and “Nine Of Swords”. In 2020 they released their debut album, “God I’m Such A Mess”.
This set you’re about to hear was recorded at the sixth installment of Spill City, a multidisciplinary arts platform featuring music, visual arts, exhibitions and all sorts of cool interactive stuff. Tina Nguyen was the drummer on the night.
