Julia R. Anderson:

Live at The Bearded Lady, West End, 10th May 2019

Born in the southern deserts of Israel, Julia R. Anderson’s family moved to Australia when she was a toddler, settling in Bundaberg. As a teenager she began experimenting with sampling and songwriting, picking up the guitar during a return stay in Israel. Ultimately moving to Brisbane to study music, Anderson has since established herself as a prolific performer and a consistently inventive force within the local music community.

This set is quite unusual, even by Anderson’s adventurous musical standards. In mid-2019, she scored a support slot at the Brisbane stop on Laura Imbruglia’s east coast album tour. Because regular drummer Andrew van der Horst was in Japan at the time, Anderson performed a special drumless trio show with Imogen Kowalczyk on bass and Reece Dargie on guitar. The result is a unique showcase of the intricate nature of her music, held together with no backbeat, just an invisible spiderweb of pure vibes. A viberweb, if you will.

Formed on the Sunshine Coast, glasshouse released their debut EP, “Plastic”, in June 2018. Since then they’ve been keeping busy playing shows around Brisbane and most recently announced their upcoming east coast tour in support of new single “Pulp”.
