Recorded at Sonic Masala Festival, Brisbane, 13th August 2016

Starting up in Brisbane in 1991, Budd was formed out of a love for the Seattle sound and Fuzz guitar pedals. The foundation of Budd was created by Jeremy Finlayson on guitars; with Gary Linaker on Bass, Nico on guitars and John Morris on Drums. They released their debut album ‘Yakfat’ in 1993 and blew the minds of audiences with their ferocious volume, that left many ears ringing. The lineup changed before the release of their second album ‘Naf’ in 1994, with Jeremy being the only original member carrying the band name for the next two decades.
In 2015, a reconciliation of the original lineup came together for the re-release of ‘Yakfat’ through Tym’s Records and rekindled the spark to play live shows again. The set you’re about to hear is a display of a band that found their sound again after being apart for 23 years.

Next up is Nick Allbrook, who some might know as a member of Tame Impala and Pond, and hails from Western Australia. Nick’s first foray into psych music started in 2007 with his first band, Mink Mussel Creek. A year later, he had joined Tame Impala as an auxiliary member, and also formed Pond, which has a revolving cast of members from both Tame Impala and Mink Mussel Creek. In 2014, Nick released his first solo record, titled ‘Ganough, Wallis & Fatuna’ through Spinning Top Records and followed it up with ‘Pure Gardiya’ in 2016.
