2014 was a great year for Ceres, the Melbourne punk rock group released their debut album ‘I Don’t Want To Be Anywhere But Here’ and also received a nomination for Triple J’s Unearthed J Award. Not to mention that national support slot on Violent Soho’s sell-out tour. Ceres play earnest alternative rock, and they’re as equally earnest about how unfashionable it is. I’m sure it’s just a passing phase, after all we’re somewhat due for a return to loud guitars, shout-y vocals, quiet verses and big choruses. Give it a couple of years. Or, maybe I’m wrong and electronic music can survive Daniel Johns.

Sewers began back in 2008 in Brisbane, originally as a two-piece, although, you wouldn’t guess if you heard them now. Their track Lineage on Negative Guest List’s ‘Wings Over Gabba’ LP compilation is the sole evidence of that group’s existence. Now the boys have expanded to 5 members – singer Shan Corrigan being the only leftover from those formative years. 2014 saw the a 7” follow-up to their 2013 debut LP, with a slightly more rock direction and half a step away from the Country Teasers grunting of debut, Hoisted. In 2015 they’re firing up for the release of their second record for Homeless.
