Yes, I’m Leaving
Recorded by Branko Cosic.
Mixed by Branko Cosic.
Recorded at The Underdog, Brisbane. 1st November 2014.
This year Yes, I’m leaving released their fourth album, Slow Release, on Melbourne’s Homeless records and in doing so they join a cast of some of Australia’s finest gritty noisey rock bands. The Sydney three-piece are well known for their pulverising live shows, in fact their latest album was recorded at their rehearsal studio, and that’s usually a good indication of a band that take their live sound very seriously. You can’t mention Yes, I’m Leaving without mentioning the Albini influence that runs through not only their music but their entire approach to being a band.

Unpeople
Recorded by Josh Watson.
Mixed by Donovan Miller.
Recorded at Shedstock, Corndale, NSW. 7th June 2014.
There are 6 members of Unpeople – no one really knows why, but it works. Unpeople are pretty peculiar in the world of punk. Sean Campion, who is best known for Multiple Man (a synth duo with his twin brother) fronts the group. Every show they play he stares directly at the crowd with this sick grin on his face, his eyes as wide as. It’s a particularly jarring look when paired with a bumbag and a parrot sweater. Behind him stand some blokes who’ve played in Occults, Woodboot and Last Chaos – a solid dump of tough.
