We’ve got some doses of weird punk and earth shattering noise rock on the latest episode of Live Delay. Our feature set comes from Sydney kids RAW PRAWN while we’ve also dug into the archive to bring you the doom-laced noise of Melbourne’s USELESS CHILDREN.
RAW PRAWN
Recorded by Murray Paas
Mixed by Dusty Anastassiou.
Recorded at The Zoo, July 2013.
I guess you’d call them a Sydney super group? Raw Prawn combine members from Holy Balm, Whores and Camperdown and Outs into one magnificent punk rock beast. They call themselves weird punk (so I believe) but it’s guitar music laced with urban depression and everyday minutiae. There’s some understated pop hooks lurking beneath these tunes as well. This set comes the band’s 2013 performance at 4ZZZ Happy Fest back in July 2013 and showcases the band’s excellent set of live chops.

USELESS CHILDREN
Recorded by Andrew McLellan and Darragh Murray.
Mixed by Andrew McLellan.
Recorded at The Waiting Room, Brisbane, September 2012.
Melbourne’s Useless Children are LOUD. Extremely loud. And last year the visited Brisbane to launch their excellent second full length record, Post Ending/Pre Completion.
A three piece made up of drummer and vocalist Cinta Master, guitarist and vocalist Rob Bonnett and bassist Steve Patrick, the trio are an unrelenting force, emerging from their punk rooms to add in brutish noise dynamics and other sound experiments.
